Attendance in a Pandemic: LGJ Student Engagement Practices

After taking stock of the challenges that a spring semester of remote learning yielded for attendance and student engagement, the team at Law Government and Justice didn't get discouraged, they got busy. The team quickly did an inventory of all their existing systems and how to best leverage them to be relentless in their student outreach. As a result, this year the school has 88% year to date attendance, and only 28% chronic absenteeism and they have built a community where each adult knows their role in outreach, messaging and supporting students to continue to show up and learn, despite the very real challenges of the moment. In this interactive session, the LGJ team will highlight the specific moves, tools and resources they used on their journey, with plenty of chances for participants to reflect and consider application to their own schools.
